11 November 2008, Rome - The United States will provide an additional $44.4 million in support of FAO's avian influenza control and prevention campaign, FAO announced today.
Avian influenza flare-ups, virus remains a global threat though disease control strongly improved
24 January 2008, Rome – Recent avian influenza outbreaks in 15 countries demonstrate that the H5N1 virus remains a global threat and requires close monitoring and strong control efforts, FAO said today.

Xinhua; 6 Jan 2009 - Following the reported outbreak of Avian Influenza in bordering Indian state of West Bengal a few days ago, Nepali Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has directed local administrations in the areas bordering the Indian state to fully prohibit the import of birds, ducks and poultry products from India.
ABC; 5 Jan 2009 - Bird flu has again emerged as a threat in Asia, after China reported a death from the disease and Vietnam registered a new human infection.
