Agenda : The Way Forward with the (New) ASEAN Regional Strategy for the Progressive Control and Eradication of HPAI for 2008-2010

  • AMC Focal Points to the ASEAN HPAI Taskforce
  • Representative/s from the ASEAN Health Sector (e.g. Chairman of the ASEAN Expert Group on Communicable Diseases and focal points per AMC)
  • Representatives from the six Participating Countries– Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand
  • Major Regional Stakeholders and Partners: OIE, FAO, WHO, ADB, AusAID, USAID, EC, CIDA and others
  • Representatives from the private sectors
  • ASEAN Secretariat

Focus :

  1. To initiate the implementation of the new ASEAN Regional Strategy for the Progressive Control and Eradication of HPAI (2008-2010).
  2. To engage all relevant stakeholders, including the ASEAN Plus Three and East Asia Summit Participating Countries in a consultative discussion on the implementation of the new ASEAN Regional Strategy for HPAI.

  3. To update all concerned by way of presenting the Final Report of the HPAI Task Force which provides the conclusion to the current Regional Framework for HPAI control and eradication.
  4. To further identify the expected outputs, activities and participating organisations in relation to the formulation of the detailed work plan(s), mechanisms and arrangements necessary for implementing the New Regional Strategy.
  5. To generally discuss expectations and define the process in integrating the work plans and mechanisms to come up with the Roadmap for HPAI control.
  6. To define, or if possible, formulate the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Regional Coordination Unit/Mechanism that shall oversee the implementation of projects and the Roadmap—defining roles and partnerships of stakeholders.
